A better portrait starts with a clear photo.

Give the editor an easy-to-read reference. These practical photo choices help show the features that make your pet recognisable; they do not guarantee a particular AI result.

  • Let the light find their face

Use soft daylight when possible. Avoid deep shadows across the eyes, heavy filters, and strong backlighting.

  • Keep the details in focus

Choose a sharp photo where the eyes, face, fur colours, and distinctive markings are visible.

  • Give one pet the spotlight

Use one clear main subject. Avoid people, busy backgrounds, and objects that cover your pet’s face.

  • Leave a little breathing room

Keep the whole face in frame. Leave room around ears and other distinctive features rather than cropping tightly.

  • Use a photo you have permission to use

Upload your own photo or one you are authorised to use. Review the finished portrait before you share it.
